I have a problem. It’s one that I have had since I was a child and I am not sure if I learned it from my father or if it is something that was handed to me through genetics or maybe a little of both. My problem is this…
I enjoy doing things outside of work, whether it be hobbies, fitness, electronics, etc. This may not sound like a problem, but if you know me, you’ll realize when I pick up a new hobby, I don’t just ease into it, I just right in with both feet. This doesn’t mean if I decide I want to become a dog sled racer that I am going to compete in the Iditarod. What it means is, I spend countless hours reading articles about technique, tips, finding out about the latest equipment, etc. I usually invest myself mentally, physically and financially in anything I get involved in.
Now back to my point. I have been running for the past few years and ended the race season placing first for my age group for my final 5k. Last year I also took up cycling (road and mounatin) after being out of it for a few years. More recently I have started taking up swimming. Put the three of those together and you have a triathlon, which my goal for this year is to do at least one Sprint and possibly an Olympic. Since I have already read several books on the topic, been actively training, scour the internet daily for more information on the subject, talked exhaustively with friends who are triathletes and Iron Man competitors, I figured I would put a lot of my findings in one location to hopefully make it easier for others who are like me. I also intend to have somewhat of a tech focus on things since I am gadget geek and incorporate them into my life at work as well as my personal life, especially when it comes to fitness.
Cheers!
